Aethertale PrologueEntry No. 1
Finally, the Aether Engine is complete, and diagnostics show that the system is running smoothly. All we need to do now is input the WORLD DATA, and Project: NEW WORLD can begin. If our theories are correct, the Engine should begin its function instantaneously, and the WORLD DATA will become a self-sustaining miniature universe that expands and evolves separately from our own.
There has been another debate on the ethics of artificially creating and maintaining an entirely new world. Some are of the opinion that “playing God” was what got us in this situation in the first place, and going through with the project would only lead to more trouble. Perhaps we are playing God, here. However, I will not sit idly by and watch the human race die out when a possible solution is at our fingertips.
If this works, we could start over. With the Aether Engine and the DETERMINATION factor, any mistakes made could be quic
What Makes Us HumanWhat Makes Us Human
Logic shapes us, helps us make the right choice
Its the fuel to your mind, spirit, and voice.
Trust is a tool than can be bent and be broken,
Innocence lost in a second, in a word that is spoken.
Deceit and manipulation can only take you so far,
Let it go on for too long, and you'll forget who you are.
Rage is a fire that burns from your core.
Let it take control and you will be nothing more.
Ambition can be distorted, take you down the wrong path
Bringing the world your creativity's wrath.
Memory is a dream that sits at the back of your mind,
The key to your future, to all humankind.
These fractions of the psyche come together in perfect union
Its just one of the things that makes us human.
Growing PainsThe day I turned 18,
It felt like any other birthday.
Just another year older,
Was there some kind of switch
That someone forgot to flip
To make me become an adult?
Life doesn't work that way.
Nothing is that simple.
Days passed by,
Slow as iced honey.
Months passed by,
Like sand through a sieve.
Still I remain a child.
No car to get around.
It was really the same
As high school.
Then, one day,
The sword came crashing down
With the weight of my mistakes.
It shattered the tinted lens,
That blinded me with bliss.
Days will pass,
Slow as iced honey.
Months will pass,
Like sand through a sieve.
And then I will have to go.
Away from the home,
That I have known.
Away from my parents,
Away to start anew.
Away to learn how
To become what I should already be.
I understand why.
But I'm not "okay".
The sadness is overwhelming,
The Blurred Lines of Monsters and MenThe battles of monsters and men are rarely so simple, as they are in fairy tales. The real irony is that the monsters are not always who you think they are in the beginning, and those who claim to be heroes may well turn out to be the villains in the end. It is also likely that the villain does not exist purely to be evil, but is the hero of his own tale, one in which the underlying cause for his journey is darker, more painful, and far more complex than that of his foil.
Because we are beings of both chaos and order, there is a constant battle within each our souls to discover which is stronger: the "monster" or the "man". This conflict is the definition of humanity and the cause of insanity.
Types of Magic: TransformativeThis type of magic is used to change a person, animal, or object into another form.
Shapeshifting- A magic that allows a sentient to change their body into that of a beast or another sentient form. In order to transform, it is required that the user has something of the form that he or she wishes to take.
Alchemy- It is often thought to be the basis for modern chemistry. Alchemy transforms one object into another using a transmutation circle. The object created must be of similar composition to the original object.
Transfiguration. This type of magic changes an object into a beast or vise versa. Like alchemy, the original form must be similar in composition to the changed form.
Types of Magic: Natural (Elemental)This is the most common type of magic. Most mages have the affinity for at least one element.
Fire- A magic often associated fury and destruction. Those with a strong affinity for fire
tend to be hotheaded and stubborn.
Water/ice- This element is somewhat odd in that those who have an affinity for it are generally stronger in one side of it than the other. Water is often used to heal or defend and its users tend to be kind. Ice is mainly used for offense and it's users are often cold and calculating.
Wind- Those with an affinity for wind are usually calm, but fierce when angered. This element is mainly used for offense and is often used with a weapon such as a fan or a quarter staff.
Earth- Earth is generally associated with heartiness and strength of will. It can be used for both offense and defense and can be paired with weapons such as hammers.
Electricity- Those with an affinity for this element are often erratic and energetic. Electricity is thought by most to be difficult to cont
